Family and Friends

Claudia's Family
Claudia's parents live in Costa Rica. They are both Chilean citizens but have lived in many places including the U.S., Canada, Mexico and, most recently, Costa Rica. Claudia's father is an agricultural engineer professor and her mother has always been a stay-at-home-mom. Both parents have been very open and supportive about Claudia and Walterio's decision to adopt a baby and can't wait to have another child to play with and love since they only have one grandchild (Evan).

Claudia's parents come and visit us in the U.S. frequently. Claudia's mother stays with us for longer spans of time whenever she wishes to do so. We also visit them as frequently as we can.

Claudia is especially fond of her memories with her parents as a young girl growing up near Mexico City. We have now visited some of the same places were Claudia grew up as a child. It was fun for us to retrace Claudia's childhood places and memories.

In her adult life, Claudia's parents settled in Costa Rica. Claudia and Walterio really enjoy visiting Claudia's parents there. It is a warm and really environmentally friendly country. The people are great and the food even better. But the best part is getting together with the family. We recently had a family reunion there (December 2005). Claudia's sisters Valentina and Soledad (with Soledad's husband and son) visited too. It was really fun! (click here) to read about Claudia's sister's, Soledad and Valentina)
Walterio's Family
Walterio's parents and youngest brother Alberto live in L
n, Nicaragua. Walterio loves his parents and brother very much. Walterio's parents are now retired and Alberto is an economist. Walterio's extended family in Nicaragua is very large. He has many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, you name it, in addition to friends. It is impossible to see everyone; we just concentrate in the most important, Walterio's parents and brother.

Walterio's parents are very loving and caring people. They have lived in León Nicaragua in the same house were Walterio grew up as a child for many, many years. As a result, they know every one there and every one knows them. We love visiting them in Nicaragua. We are treated like royalty every time we visit Walterio's parents. They feed us, as if we were in our last supper! There is definitely no need to go to any restaurant while we stay there since the best food is to be had at your own parents' house! Walterio's mom loves to cook, and actually Walterio loves to cook too. We think he learned from the best! His mom.

Needless to say Walterio's parents are more than eager to have a little addition to the family. They have been waiting for this for a long time and we can certainly picture them loving this child with open hearths. We recently visited during a religious holiday called "La Griteria" held every December 7th. It was loads of fun and there was a party atmosphere the entire two weeks we were there. We sure can't wait to visit them again with a new addition to the family. (click here) to read about Walterio's sister, Miriam)

Friends
We have many friends abroad as well as in the San Francisco Bay Area. Many of them are anxious for us to become parents since they already have children themselves and would love it if we could join their club!

We must not forget our own little pet friends! We have four little parakeets. They are sweet and lovely and bring a lot of happiness and singing to our household.
